Rushmore Parent Group Watch D.O.G.S. held organizational meeting Oct 3rd

Rushmore Principle Mrs. Molfenter and Mike Baumgartner presented information on a nationally recognized parent group called Watch D.O.G.S.  The event was attended by at least 50 Dads, Granddads and Uncles.  With sponsorship from the Rushmore PTO this looks like a program on the way to bring more men into the schools during the school day.
Background: WATCH D.O.G.S. invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer at least one day, all day at their child’s/student's school during the school year. Volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher's guidance by working with small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.
Program Goals:
1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
If you’d like more information, but cannot attend the Dads and Kids Pizza Night, please contact our Top Dog Coordinator, Mike Baumgartner at (575) 921-4655 or rushmoredogs@outlook.com

You are welcome to participate even if you missed this event.  Currently, this is for Rushmore elementary.  If you'd be interested in expanding to other Huber Heights Schools drop Mike a note.
