If you haven't been paying attention Gov Kaisch has made a school funding proposal that has given the school board hope the current funding issues will not be as dire as they appear today.   DDN Article.

Opinion:

1. The governor should have released the formula's he intends to propose.  This would allow the school treasurer to do a budget.

2.  The legislature should change the filing date for changes to the levy.  The filing date for changing the levy has ended.  The school board can ask to be taken off the ballot if they do it by March 13th or they can leave the 9.95 mil request on the ballot.  The state legislature should change the election law so that the school board has the option of lowering the milleage amount.

3. I talked with a school board member and was told they intend to meet March 7th.  This makes sense if they intend to ask to remove the levy prior to the cut off date.
