United UU Water – Not To Exceed Amount and City Water and Sewer Projects - The council recognized the Water Fund had a lot of reserve funds and has been using them to help build the Aquatic Center and this past week refund the city's past 15 years of water bills so that money could be used in the city's General Fund.
Trash Hauling and Recycling RFP - Many citizens have expressed an interest in this concept both for and against. I highlight these discussions are taking place to make sure everyone that cares can contribute to the process.
Thomas Cloud Park Planning/City Park Use and Site Planning - Nov 2012 the city changed the zoning of Thomas Cloud. When discussing this change City representatives made sure to point out the zoning change was done strictly so the zoning of Thomas Cloud would be the same as the rest of the parks. Now that the zoning has changed, qualified organizations that want to build and run batting cages, or paintball tracks or pet facilities can do it with city council permission. These types of discussion have already been going on with city council members. I hope this is an opportunity for the community to participate in making suggestions on which organizations and what types of services and fund raising will be permitted.
TIF Districts - I haven't decided whether I like TIF districts or not yet so I always like to hear the discussions. The Mayor and City Council seem to think it is free money but I'd really like to see the mechanics on how it is channeled before I embrace this technique.
The Heights Development/Carriage Trails - This is a major city project and the city has a lot of financial resources devoted to it. This will be the first update I've heard in a while.
2013 City Budget - I don't actually expect much out of this discussion as important as it may seem to you and me. You can download and review the proposed budget.
Those of us that get the email notification have an agenda for the Publics Works and Administration Committee meetings of the 4th. I recommend you email Mr. Anthony Rogers to get on that list. The agenda's were sent by email last Thursday but were not on the meeting and information page until Monday. The agenda's and read aheads have been posted on the city's website.
