I often wonder what's right and what's wrong, and if there really is a right and wrong. Then I go into politics, and it just confuses my twenty-one year old mind. With politics I feel that everyone seems to be competing for their own ideals and never for for the people's ideas or beliefs. Then there are those politicians who are neither; in fact those politician are "parents". These "parents" view the public as their "children" and consider each opinion and ideas, but they also guide them for their best interest. These people are selfless. They do not have a face and all they care about is pleasing the majority of the people. Parents often feel this way about themselves. They say things like "oh, I never have time for myself" or "I have to do this for my kids". This is the kind of government I want and it's the system that we should have.  Us "children" should always have our voices heard and understood, but I feel our system, like many parents with their children, have many miscommunication issues.

Here are two miss communication in government meetings, I encountered this week. First, one resident came in to voice the complaints of her peers. I was amazed by how many members listened and how many wanted to brush her off. Granted her complaint was just a topic on a certain stoplight, but as a government official, shouldn't one consider all public complaints and opinions no matter how silly or odd they may be? Then to brush off a voice of a group of people is just selfish and shallow. Then, I went to another meeting where they had a speaker actually stating that she wished there was a better way to inform the people about government's ideas and not through the newspaper. She also states because of this miscommunication that the government's new ideas or laws are not passed.

Miscommunication is a huge problem that needs to be addressed. Our generation now gets news through websites like youtube or twitter. So if the local government creates a twitter account or even a youtube account to inform the residents would the children listen then?
