I received the first pay stub for a direct deposit of my Mayor pay.

As with last month I did receive a free meal as part of my attending the Mayors and Managers monthly meeting.  If you are in Oakwood I'd highly recommend Flyboy's Deli.  The Mayor's and Managers meeting included an interesting presentation about GE's involvement in the Dayton community.  Unlike last month where there were two other free meals this was the only one in February.

I experienced my first regret concerning one of the decisions I participated in.  Last month we decided to rent the Camp Fire (city owned) property for a $1 a year plus the renter maintains the land and building. I went by that property and the sign out front makes it look like all the events happening at that property are specific to that church.  As I recall there is nothing in the lease requiring the events to be marketed as if the church were getting a great deal from the city, however, I didn't expect the impression to be that this was a normal lease between a landowner that was getting fair market value and a renter that was paying full rate.

I also missed a Public Services and Safety Committee meeting.  That meeting was the next following one where I asked question about the new tree cutting ordinance.  I don't like how I see the appeals process works but if it was discussed in that meeting I feel bad about bringing it up again.  Especially, since this is one agenda item that is going through the whole 3 readings.

The weather postponed the only Wedding requested this month.  They now intend to get married in March.

I've been on the job now for two months and I still haven't done my orientation with the Water Department, Tax Department or the Streets Department.  I also have not gotten the presentation about the Citizen Committees nor I have I progress with the online NIMS course (National Incident Management Systems). Worse yet I had intended to coordinate with the schools so that I could do an introduction to City Government for the high school students that come to council meetings as part of their Government classes and I had hoped to visit at least 5 of the businesses that gave me their card as part of the Chamber of Commerce introduction.  I didn't get either of these done either.

I'm still trying to get admin committee chairman to have a public discussion on the hiring process for the City Manager position.  I also am advocating to find out the selection criteria that identified MEMI as the company the city needs to manage the new Music Center.

Next month I hope to list out a couple of accomplishments.
