Below is the info I have gathered.
  1.  Amphitheater 101
  2.  List of Contemporary Amphitheaters.
    •
I started looking through this list and found it difficult, at best, to find the exact same conditions that this city wants.  I asked for info from just those who built their amphitheater with these key components in mind.
  1. Built for economic growth
  2. Location
  3. Population in Urban Areas and Urban Clusters  (Urban Areas are +50K; Urban Clusters are under 50K)
  4. Size
  5. Noise impact (http://www.costamesaca.gov/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=6604 was used for a comparable research)
  6. Other uses, if any

  1.  Contacts
  1. St. Clairsville, Ohio   http://www.timesleaderonline.com/page/content.detail/id/539020.html
  1.  Info obtained from St. Clairsville Mayor’s office.
  2. City Obtained funds through Dept. of Nature Resources.  This city had to match the funds that were given to them from the state.  They “Can’t say it brought economic  growth.  We have had growth however it’s from the oil industry and fracking.”  They’ve hosted fireworks.  “everyone wants fireworks but the neighbors complained that it scared their dogs”
  3. “We get a lot of noise complaints, especially during Band Fest” City had to limit how long bands could play.  Currently 7pm to 9pm
  4. “All bands that have played here say it’s the nicest amphitheater they’ve ever played at”  Rec’s Chair is Kevin Barr 740-695-2037 *I did not speak directly to him
  1. Tippecanoe County Amphitheater Park           http://www.tippecanoe.in.gov/department/division.php?structureid=250
  1.  “If they had it to do over, this would NOT have been built.  It was built to reproduce the Battle of Tippecanoe, but it went bankrupt after 3 seasons.”  They “built it in hopes of bringing economic growth but it hasn’t” They are looking for other uses for this building however due to the type of funding, their hands are tied.  This building was purchased with “bond monies” which has a lot of restrictions, meaning they cannot rent or lease to anyone “for-profit”.  Info provided by Property Manager.    http://www.tippecanoe.in.gov/eGov/apps/document/center.egov?view=item;id=8385
  1. Costa Mesa, CA  Pacific Amphitheater
  1. http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-pacific-amphitheatre-costa-mesa
  2. http://www.stubhub.com/pacific-amphitheater-costa-mesa-event-tickets/
  3. Contact was made and had great results.  It is definitely not in a residential area.  This also consists of a hotel and contributes its success to their casino and other amenities.
  1.    Germain Amphitheater (formerly Polaris Amphitheater) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germain_Amphitheater

  2.  http://www.donewaiting.com/tag/germain-amphitheater/
  3. Contacted the demolition company and it was explained that tearing down such an establishment as this cost approx. 1 Million dollars.  ½ for Re-Earthing and ½ for demolition.

  1. The Fraze   http://www.fraze.com/
  1. I spoke with Property Manager and he felt this new Amphitheater for Huber Heights would be too close to their facilities and thus is worried for the future of their site and bookings.  They are keeping a close eye on Huber Heights progress.
  1. Klipsch Music Center  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klipsch_Music_Center
  1. This facility is has been very successful.  It should also be stated that this venue is in the middle of corn fields and not a residential area.
  2. I spoke with the Building manager in Jan 2013.  Opinions were skeptical of our city’s desire to build this.
  1.  PNC  Cincinnati    http://cincinnati.metromix.com/music/top_40/pnc-pavilion-at-riverbend-anderson-township/606637/content
PNC was surprised to hear that Huber Heights is tackling a project such as this and felt uncertain of its future.

I hope this helps.
