If anyone is interested in becoming Mayor, a member of city council or a school board member of Huber Heights, you must file your application prior to February 6, 2013 (updated filing date). There are 3 council positions and 3 school board positions available. The application process for Mayor and City Council requires you file a nominating petition with at least 50 signatures and addresses of Huber Heights registered voters.

News: Filing date for running for Council and Mayor is Feb 6, 2013

I received a call from the Board of Elections yesterday.  The correct date for filing petitions to run for Mayor or City Council is Feb 6, 2013.  I do not know why the date was moved 15 days earlier than the first date that was put out but I heard it may have been a calculation error by one of their employees (as opposed to the state moving the date).

Also in an earlier post I wrote that…

News: Traffic Signal Study requested

I was ruled out of order in last night's city council mtg! I asked whose campaign I needed to contribute to in order to get a study done for a traffic light at Charlesgate and Old Troy. With that said an older man can get up and say I hate all foreigners and he thinks they should all be thrown out of the US in last month's council meeting, yet THAT'S not out of order. Mayor said that we should just "overlook" his statements.

News: Deceitful Spin - hiding a $5,000 fee increase

While I was mayor, I would not have allowed Mr. Schommer to try and avoid the hard discussion that a responsible public servant would have with residents of a community.  But this council allowed him to sell them on raising the water main assessment for residents on Chambersburg Road from nothing to $5,000 without notifying residents council intended to authorize the impending change.

News: Rose Music Center Financial Reports:

I am glad to see the city published the 2017 and 2018 Music Center Financial Reports as part of the March 5, 2018 work session read ahead materials[1].  People keep telling me they wish that I were still mayor.  There are a couple things that drive those discussions to the possibility of changing the City to a Strong Mayor form of government and me to serving as the first strong mayor.

News: City Manager's complaining about my blog post

The City Manager and Mayor made references to two of my earlier posts (Rose Music Center Financial Reports & Deceitful Spin - hiding a $5,000 fee increase) during the Feb 5th discussion on the Rose Music Center update.  You should watch that discussion not only because it will help you understand why I addressed council on Monday, but also because there are some other points made during that discussion

News: Councilman Otto investigation

During Monday night's council meeting there was a 40-minute discussion[1] by council to decide if they want to spend money and hire a lawyer to investigate whether they want to try and invoke Section 13.08 (2)[2] of the Charter where is says an official can be removed from office for “Intentional violation of the prohibitions set forth in Section 4.06 of this Charter”.

This is how Section 4.06

News: Complaint about the Mayor - the investigation

I thought I would take a minute to post links to the original complaint Mr. Otto made about the Mayor because Mr. Otto believed that Mr. Gore did not fulfill his responsibilities in regaurd to Mr. Morgan's residency issue.

Here is the link to the complaint.

Here is the link to Mrs. Bryge's investigation and recommendations

I am not going to add a lot of commentary in this article but will add

News: Mayor Censured - fodder for click clackers

Paul Scheaffer, someone whose Facebook page "Huber Heights Community Forum" should be a daily look, endorsed the other candidate that is running to represent Ward 6 on city council.

One of the strains in our relationship is the negative perception he had of me prior to ever engaging with me.  That perception appears to be largely formed from misinformation spread by those that support other city
