News: Notes from Administration Committee Meeting 22 Jan 13

I realized the other day that there have been no committee discussions about possibly raising the income tax.  The DDN tells us council was thinking about it. Council would have to vote at a council meeting to do this and it would have to be done prior to Feb 6th if they wanted it to appear on the May ballot.  The only regularly scheduled council meeting before Feb 6th is on Jan 28th.

The agenda for Monday's Council Meeting is posted on the city's website on the Meeting Information and Audio page  Don't forget you can watch the meeting live over the internet (the link only works during the meeting) or you can watch a recording once it is posted a couple days after the meeting. Of course you can always go to city hall Monday night and participate.

As the article title tells…

News: Big money for Music Center and Thomas Cloud on Council agenda

The agendas for the City Council Meeting 7pm Monday April 22, 2013 and the City Planning Commission 7pm Tuesday April 23, 2013 can be found on the city's website.  I can't attend either this week because I will be in meetings for work.  I appreciate your participation on our behalf.

The major item Tuesday at the Planning commission is a Public Hearing about the Basic Development Plan and…

News: ACTION ALERT! - Music Center, Tues. May 7- Admin Committee

There will be an Administration Committee Tues, May 7, at 6:00 pm. On the agenda will be the upcoming Music Center. There is a concern that the process to find a contractor to build the music center may follow the same pattern of the Aquatic Center: Project Manager Tim Conaway would talk to two or so companies he thinks may do a good job and have them submit packages to him. He then evaluates them and recommends his pick to the council. Conaway's company apparently would get a percentage of the settled-on price…

News: Music Center Feasibility Study

You can now download the Music Center Validation Study Report

I've been campaigning for 8 months to get any of the council members to request city staff post the reports done in preparation of building the Music Center on the city's website either as news or better yet as part of a meetings agenda or minutes.  I've asked them to make the original report done by the city finance and…

News: Huber Heights fully committed to Music Center

Council voted to authorize the $12 million contract for the Music Center Building Package on Monday.  To date there has been no public discussion that shows council members have seen or understand the financial impact to the city.  The Music Center Validation study available here at HuberResidents.org has not be published by the city and the content raises concerns about the operation and revenue expectation.

News: Rose Music Center Financial Reports:

I am glad to see the city published the 2017 and 2018 Music Center Financial Reports as part of the March 5, 2018 work session read ahead materials[1].  People keep telling me they wish that I were still mayor.  There are a couple things that drive those discussions to the possibility of changing the City to a Strong Mayor form of government and me to serving as the first strong mayor.

News: Raise Council Pay by 560%!

This Monday Council will vote themselves a pay raise.  Though I believe these council members are grossly overpaid for the quality of work they perform, I argue that they are not raising it enough to pay for the quality we need.

In what range should we set pay for a city council member?  First, I will address my friend and city podcaster, Matt Truman’s contention that dedicated public servants
